Jonesboro, Louisiana Mayor Leslie Thompson on Friday issued a proclamation declaring a day of gratitude for Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill in recognition of Mill’s mentorship of protege Lil Snupe.
Lil Snupe, aJonesboro native, was shot and killed June 20 at the age of 18.
Mill posted a photo of the proclamation issued June 29 on his Instagram account.
The accolade served”to say ‘thank you’ to a man who saw the potential in Lil Snupe, introduced him to other rappers who embraced him, and in early 2013, signed 17-year-old Lil Snupe to his record label, Dream Chasers, after hearing his demo,” according to the document.
Mill accompanied the shot of the proclamation with the following tweet:
