Lamar Wanamaker: Nearly cold, cops catch man in Franks murder

Not one to stop looking for answers, Simon White went back last week to the Feltonville neighborhood where his nephew Neville Franks was shot and killed just days after his 21st birthday last September. He handed out at least 100 flyers featuring pictures of suspected gunman Lamar Wanamaker and an alleged accomplice. It read, “If you see this scumbag, call police.”

A day later, he got word from police that the alleged “scumbag” was caught. A spokesman for the U.S. Marshals Service confirmed that Wanamaker was taken into custody at an apartment on the outskirts of Wilkes-Barre around 1 p.m. Friday.

“We’d been working this job for a while,” said Jim Burke, supervisor of the U.S. Marshals’ fugitive taskforce, noting that Luzerne County detectives were on scene. “Information developed which placed him in Plymouth.”

Philadelphia homicide detectives brought back Alexander and roommate Jerek Anderson, though Anderson was released for lack of warrants. Franks was reportedly killed during “an argument over a monetary debt.”
