Visit Philly Beer Garden Series
All summer long, Visit Philly has been well, visiting, different beer gardens throughout the city for a pop-up happy hour of drink specials in the great outdoors. The series is winding down with the season so don’t miss your chance to get in on the fun. The Oval, in front of the Art Museum on the Parkway, hosts the series Aug. 17 from 4 yo 7 p.m. On Aug. 22 the series stops at Independence Beer Garden. The final round is Aug. 29 at Morgan’s Pier.
The Wednesday night happy hour standby is at almost 50 bars and restaurants this year, with discounts on drinks and apps from 5 to 7 p.m. Whether you want a cocktail at Jose Garces’ Rosa Blanca or a cheap beer at Oh! Shea’s Pub, go on a Sips night.
Hollywood meets Philly
Screening Under the Stars Summer Movie Series
Sure, you can watch a movie any night of the year — but not outside. Outdoor movie screenings have been happening around the city all summer, and thankfully they’re still going strong. Bring the kids to Penn’s Landing Aug. 21 for Screening Under the Stars’ at Penn’s Landing is hosting a “Frozen” sing-a-long.
Mt. Airy is going family-friendly too, with “Annie” in Lovett Park on Aug. 15. “Men in Black” shows at the Trolley Car Diner the next night.
Food truckextravaganza
The final Night Market of summer is Aug. 14 from 6 to 10 p.m. Over 75 food trucks and restaurants will line up along Lancaster Avenue starting at 35th Street. Rapper Chill Moody and the West Philadelphia Orchestra will be providing the festival’s live soundtrack.

Good weather and good tunes
Of course the Philadelphia Zoo is a staple in the summer, but how many times can you watch the bears look hot and sleepy? The Paisley Pickles will put on the last Rock ‘n’ Roar kids concert of the summer Aug. 19 at 11 a.m. The event, on the Impala Lawn, is free with zoo admission.
If a concert on the Fisher-Price Stage at the zoo sounds like it might be a little too young for your taste, then check out Concerts in the Park. Beginning at 6 p.m. on Aug. 20, DJ Cash Money, Worldtown Soundsystem, Pablo Batista and the Mambo Syndicate will take the stage in Rittenhouse Square. The event is free — music to any young adult’s ear.
