As we enter the season of gratitude and reflection, it’s an opportune time to celebrate the remarkable accomplishments of Latino entrepreneurs who continue to shape our region’s economic and cultural fabric. At the Greater Philadelphia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GPHCC), we are privileged to witness firsthand the resilience, creativity, and community impact that define these businesses.

I want to spotlight three exceptional businesses whose stories inspire us all.

Queen & Rook

Queen & Rook Game Cafe, led by Edward Garcia, is more than just a café—it’s a space where community and connection thrive. Located in Philadelphia, Queen & Rook offers patrons a unique experience with its extensive library of board games, complemented by delicious food and drinks. Amid the challenges of launching just months before the pandemic, Edward leveraged strategies from GPHCC’s Accelerate Latinx program to not only survive but thrive. His vision has expanded Queen & Rook into a space three times its original size, increasing revenue by 80% and staffing by 50%. Edward’s determination to grow while creating inclusive spaces for the community is a testament to the power of perseverance.

Magnum Group

Magnum Group Inc., founded by Vivian Isaak in 1992, is a trailblazer in multilingual communications. From a one-assistant home office, Vivian has grown Magnum into a global powerhouse, connecting businesses across cultures with professional translation, localization, and interpretation services. Recognized for her leadership with numerous accolades, including the WBENC Leadership Award, Vivian’s ability to innovate and adapt—especially during challenging times—exemplifies staying power. Her unwavering commitment to bridging cultures has made her a cornerstone of the language services industry.

SITIO architecture + urbanism

SITIO architecture + urbanism, a Philadelphia-based firm led by Antonio Fiol-Silva, has redefined the role of architecture. Known for projects that blend innovative design with sustainability and social impact, SITIO is at the forefront of creating spaces that transform neighborhoods. From revitalizing urban centers to designing public spaces that bring people together, Antonio and his team have demonstrated how thoughtful architecture can bridge divides and inspire collective progress.

These businesses and their leaders remind us of the impact that vision, hard work, and community-minded values can have. They embody the spirit of resilience and innovation that drives progress not only within our Latino community but for Greater Philadelphia as a whole.

I invite you to meet these extraordinary leaders and celebrate their achievements at this year’s Excelencia in Hispanic Business Awards Reception on Dec. 4, at The Switch House at the Battery. Join us for an inspiring evening of connection, storytelling, and celebration as we honor these and other outstanding Latino business leaders.
