Lee fine, ready to open season

The reports of Cliff Lee’s demise were greatly exaggerated.

This past weekend, some were in a panic over a report saying that Lee had mildly strained his left side. Yesterday, the pitcher said he would be ready for the season.

“I’m perfectly fine and right with everyone else,” Lee told reporters. “It’s not really a major issue.”

Lee did admit to undergoing an MRI earlier this month. The results revealed a minor strain near his left latissimus dorsi.

“It’s a non-issue. It was very minor,” Lee said yesterday. “It’s not that big a deal. It’s really nothing.”

Lee is expected to get his first start of spring training next Tuesday against the Detroit Tigers.
