Ways to indulge, sip and support the LGBTQ+ community in Philly

Oloroso

There are two ways to support the LGBTQ+ community this month in Philadelphia while dining at Oloroso. On Wednesday, June 12 from 4 to 10 p.m., the venue will be serving up a specialty four-course tasting menu for one night only, plus a specialty cocktail (available throughout June) with proceeds going to the William Way LGBT Community Center.

The cocktail itself, The Jolly Green, was created by Beverage Director Andrew Hicks and features gin, Midori, lime, yuzu, and egg white. The dinner on June 12, on the other hand, will feature a thoughtfully-curated experience from Chef Jason Peabody of apas, raciones, desserts, and more, with a curated wine and/or sherry pairing available to add-on. More information can be found online.

Kiddo

Kiddo will be offering a rainbow snack plate for happy hour throughout the month of June, and visitors can indulge in the $4 dish (comprised of goat fritters, deviled eggs, pickled blueberries, oat streusel and more) while also helping the Attic Youth Center (proceeds will go directly to the organization.) Also, on Sunday, June 2, Kiddo will offer an all-day happy hour with a featured cocktail, The Juicebox, comprised of apple brandy, combier, passionfruit, lime and a Downeast cider topper.

Cake Life Bake Shop

As a trans-owned business, Cake Life is going big for the month of June with some specialty sweet treats being added to the menu. Options span Pride Sugar Cookies, dusted in colorful, rainbow sprinkles; Fiesta Cupcakes, available in funfetti, red velvet, or chocolate cake, each topped with cream cheese frosting, rainbow sprinkles, and a cherry, and Pride Shortbread Sleeves, a 10-pack of buttery and colorful cookies.

And as a release notes, in addition to serving desserts, Cake Life Bake Shop also prides itself on being a one-stop-shop with a year-round retail space that prioritizes products from women-, BIPOC-, LGBTQ, and locally-owned businesses. Customers can find a myriad of gifts, from Pride Stickers, to sweet ‘n’ spicy greeting cards, to funny mugs and beyond.

The Fishtown bakery’s Pride menu is open for pre-order online now, with pick-up and delivery available. Note, orders must be completed by 2 p.m. four days prior to the desired pick-up or delivery date.
