Libertee Grounds opened a few short years ago in Philly to offer a hyper-local beer/cocktail list, pan-Asian fare, and an indoor mini-golf course all under one roof—and the latter recently unveiled some updated expansions.
The venue’s newly scaled mini-golf course and bar boasts an added 4,000 square feet, now making the grounds the official home of the largest indoor-mini golf course in the city, totaling 12,500 square feet.
The concept was created by co-owners and long-time friends, Priyank Rambhia, Kanay Patel, and Sanil Shah. As a release states, with this new project, they knocked down an existing wall of their first floor, which opened up to a vacant corner of retail space that stretches to the corner of 16th Street and Girard Avenue. The expansions also added in nine holes to the course, which can be linked to play with the original course, creating a full 18-hole mini-golf experience.
Plus, Philadelphians will also be able to check out new amenities at the venue including a state-of-the-art golf simulator, a new bar with seating for up to nine guests, lounge areas for guests to relax in while playing mini-golf, and an added private event space for gatherings.
“The opportunity to expand Libertee Grounds and share our love of Philadelphia, and our guests’ love of Philadelphia, is such an honor,” said Rambhia in a statement, who, along with Patel and Shah, opened the complex in January 2021. “Since day one, we’ve been humbled by the incredible support we’ve received and we’re thrilled to continue to be a part of the growth and vibrancy of this neighborhood.”
The new additions to the mini-golf course also tie in to the Philly community specifically, with nods and odes to the skate ramps at FDR Park, the El-Train, the classic pole-climbing fans do after an Eagles win, some local breweries, and even an obstacle-ridden road, complete with traffic cones, ATVs, and a sinkhole. The release also notes that there are special animatronic appearances of beloved characters, including a rotating raccoon on the third hole to block putts, among others.
The design of the expanded space was a collaborative effort between Libertee Grounds and North Standard Fabricators.
On top of everything new, Philadelphians who come to Libertee Grounds can check out a bevy of local drink options along with a full bar. Menu highlights food-wise include whipped ricotta garlic toast, spicy cucumbers, cheese curds, roasted garlic hummus, lettuce wraps, a lamb kheema cheesesteak, s’mores tart and more. The venue also offers brunch with highlights including paneer and egg spring rolls, chai latte French toast, a tofu scramble burrito and more.
