The Philadelphia Martin Luther King Jr. Association for Nonviolence held their annual symbolic ringing of the Philadelphia Liberty Bell on Monday. The program began with the singing of the National Anthem by Kim Sledge, member of the world-renowned group, Sister Sledge. Notable speakers of the day including Cynthia McLeod, superintendent of Independence National Historical Park; Dr. William Tucker, President of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Association for Nonviolence (via Zoom); as well as this year’s bell ringer, Gregory Deavens, president and CEO of Independence Blue Cross.
