A Rock and Roll Hall of Famer will be hitting an (intimate) stage in Philly this weekend as part of the Autograph Card Exclusives music series.

Lionel Richie will be playing Philadelphia’s Union Transfer on March 29 for this event activation, which caps audience members to 1,200, making the concert a more personal affair.

“It’s a more intimate experience with the audience but even though the venue is smaller, the energy is just as incredible as if we were in a large venue,” explains Richie. “It’s going to be an unforgettable night and the audience will get to hear all of the hits that hopefully new fans will enjoy as well. I am looking forward to the audience singing along with me.”

The experience was created by Wells Fargo in November of 2023 with an exclusive Mumford & Sons concert that took place in Los Angeles. The idea is to provide Autograph Credit cardholders with access to concerts, showcasing big-name artists in small venues. The series has since seen performances from Imagine Dragons, Brandi Carlile, Maluma, and Halsey.

Richie specifically grew to fame as an American singer, songwriter, record producer, and television personality in the 1970s and 1980s. The Alabama native was first on the scene as the lead singer of the funk and soul band, The Commodores. His solo career kicked off in the early 80s, and he’s recognized as one of the most successful performers around the world to this day.

On top of the show this weekend, Richie has returned for his eighth season as a judge on ABC’s ‘American Idol’, with the new season in full swing now after premiering earlier this month. The creative is also set to debut his first memoir, ‘Truly’, via HarperOne later this year. The “no-holds-barred book” will recount the lessons Lionel has learned over the course of his life and music career.

“Every moment has been important and has led me to where I am today, but I always say that growing up in Tuskegee [Alabama] is what shaped me. Tuskegee taught me about perseverance and that anything is possible,” says Richie.

Autograph cardholders had early access, plus, all eligible Wells Fargo credit cardholders had access to purchase tickets to the performance as well, which kicks off at 8 p.m. on Saturday.

“I am looking forward to the audience singing along with me. I always enjoy performing ‘Hello’, ‘All Night Long’ and ‘Dancing on the Ceiling’,” finishes Richie. “I always have the best time in Philadelphia and am always welcomed with an amazing energy.”
