Made on American Street Festival showcases local creativity

Next weekend, the creative and ultra-local Made on American Street Festival will be in full swing. Taking place on Saturday, May 20, the celebration will call the newly-refurbished American Street in Kensington home and everyone is welcome to come out to see what’s in store at this energetic event.

From 2 to 6 p.m. (though there’s a VIP hour beginning at 1 p.m.) on that date, the event promises to be a day of celebration, creativity, food, drink and inspiration, showcasing the best of Philadelphia’s artistic community. In total, visitors will have access to small businesses, creative studios and talented artists who call this area of the city home.

As a release states, originally started by The Philly Homebrew Club, The Made on American Street Festival was created to experience the rich cultural history of Philadelphia, and to celebrate the city’s vibrant beer and arts community as an extra cherry on top of a cultural sundae.

The event is made to have a little something for everyone, all while showcasing the diversity and energy of Kensington.

“We’re thrilled to be hosting the Made on American Street Festival again this year,” said festival organizer, Meredith Rebar of Homebrewed Events in a statement.

Rebar continued: “This is more than just your run-of-the-mill street festival. Kensington is such a creative and dynamic neighborhood, and this event is a wonderful way to showcase just that. There are remnants of the old breweries of Philadelphia’s past that come full circle with the bustling brewery scene in the area now.”

The VIP hour mentioned before will give Philadelphians an exclusive chance to dive headfirst into the festival’s offerings with a one-of-a-kind tasting glass, special pours from N. American Street producers, and more for $60.

For those looking for general admission on the other hand, tickets cost $40 and include unlimited tastes of beer, cider, wine and cocktails from local producers, live music by local bands/performers, a limited edition tasting glass, mini golf hosted by Libertee Grounds, access to the Vendor Marketplace featuring handcrafted goods from local artists and more with local food vendors offering pay-as-you-go options.

Provided

Beverage vendors span Hale & True, Gritty City, Human Robot, Kiki Vodka, Mural City Cellars, Top Dog Cocktails, Stateside Vodka and more. Food vendors will feature Sauce Boy Philly, SmokebreakBBQ, Parker Pastries, The Charming Charcuterie, Underbite Bites and many others.

And as for the creative vendors offering Philadelphians a front-row seat to peruse through their products? Look out for pop-ups from Elements of Still, Maggie Martin, Nocturnal Knots, Queer Candle Co., Redwood Durable, Sarah Poli Art, Shemesh Shop, The Grand Review, Trippy Bunni and more.
