Mail-in ballot deadline is Tuesday

Residents planning to vote by mail in next week’s municipal primary have until Tuesday to apply for a ballot.

Mail-in ballot requests must be delivered to the City Commissioners Office by 5 p.m. Tuesday. Registered voters can request a mail-in ballot online at votespa.com or go to Room 140 at City Hall between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Election officials are encouraging those who have received their mail-in ballot to sent it back, bring it to a drop box or take it to a drop-off event as soon as possible.

This week, there will be staffed drop-off events Wednesday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Alain Locke Elementary School; Thursday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Shawmont Elementary School: Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. at Water Tower Recreation Center and Feltonville Intermediate School; Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. at Shawmont Elementary and Julia De Burgos Elementary School; and Saturday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at McMichael Park and the Liacouras Center.

In addition, the City Commissioners have installed 24/7 dropboxes at City Hall, Eastern State Penitentiary, Markward Playground, Pelbano Recreation Center, Ford PAL Recreation Center, Smith Playground, Vogt Recreation Center, Independence Branch Library, Dorothy Emmanuel Recreation Center, Pleasant Playground, Shissler Recreation Center, Chalfont Playground and Stenton Playground.

Ballots must be delivered to election offices by 8 p.m. on Election Day.

Mail-in voters are reminded to put their ballot in the smaller secrecy envelope, which should then be placed in the outer return envelope. The outer envelope should be signed, dated and stamped.

Polls will also be open for in-person voting from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day.

Philadelphians will be weighing in on their party’s nominees for district attorney and a host of judicial positions. There will also be several ballot questions.
