Man, 26, killed in Center City shooting early Tuesday

A 26-year-old man was killed in a hail of bullets early Tuesday morning in Center City, authorities said.

Officers responded to the corner of Juniper and Walnut streets just after 12:15 a.m. and found the victim, Kashian Lewis, of South Philadelphia, unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds, police said. He died a short time later at Jefferson University Hospital.

Investigators reportedly found 21 shell casings at the scene, and Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said a blue pickup truck leaving the area might have been involved, according to multiple media accounts.

It wasn’t the only shooting in the greater Center City area.

A couple hours earlier, just before 10:30 p.m. Monday, a 21-year-old man was shot in the left foot at Broad and Callowhill streets, police said. His injuries are not expected to be life-threatening.

Police said a man, whose age was not immediately available, was fatally shot at around 2:45 p.m. Tuesday on the 2400 block of N. Reese Street in North Philadelphia. He was shot four times, investigators said, but further details were not released.

At around 4:45 p.m. on Monday, a man died after being shot once in the head on the 5900 block of Bennington Street in the Crescentville section of Northeast Philadelphia.

Authorities identified the victim Tuesday as 21-year-old Emad Seleman, who lived in the neighborhood. No arrests have been made in the case.

In West Philadelphia, a 32-year-old man was shot in the left hand just before 3:45 a.m. Tuesday on the 5100 block of Market Street, police said. He was hospitalized in stable condition.

Not far away, someone shot a 22-year-old man in the armpit and back at around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday on the 4400 block of Haverford Avenue in the West Powelton neighborhood. He is expected to physically recover, according to authorities.

A 24-year-old man survived after being shot 19 times Monday night in East Mount Airy, investigators said.

Officers found the victim at around 8:45 p.m. on the 7700 block of Cedarbrook Avenue. He was rushed to Einstein Medical Center, where he was in critical condition.

Police described the suspect as a 5-foot-6 or 5-foot-7-inch light-skinned Black man with a thin build who was wearing all-black clothing and black ski mask at the time of the shooting.

A 41-year-old man was also in critical condition after being shot once in the head just before 8:15 p.m. Monday on the 1400 block of W. Mayfield Street in North Philadelphia, police said. He is being treated at Temple University Hospital.

Authorities did not report any arrests in the immediate aftermath of any of the shootings.
