A 70-year-old man was fatally shot during an attempted carjacking Sunday evening in West Philadelphia, police said.
Carmen Suero Jr., who lived in the Drexel Hill area of Delaware County, was found suffering from a gunshot wound to his back just after 5 p.m. on the 300 block of N. 63rd Street, according to authorities. He died a short time later at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center.
Investigators believe the killing happened while the gunman was trying to steal Suero’s vehicle, PPD officials said.
Through Monday, no arrests had been made. Anyone with information is asked to call or text the police tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
