Man arrested after allegedly slashing tires of 16 cars near city hall

A 28-year-old man who allegedly went on a tire slashing spree near Philadelphia City Hall is now facing charges, police said.

A total of 16 vehicles, including five that are city owned, were targeted by a tire slasherFriday night.

The arrestedman has not yet named by police as his charges are pending, according to Philly.com.

Authorities told the outlet that plainclothes officers were in their car near Broad and Arch streets when they saw the suspect standing next to a city-owned vehicle and stabbing the back tire with a knife.

He then allegedly walked to the front of the car and slashed another tire.

After arresting the man, a witness told police he saw the man targeting a pair of SUVs on JFK Boulevard that were also owned by the city.

Investigators later determined the suspect targeted unattended cars parked along Broad, Arch, and 12th Streets and JFK Boulevard, according to CBS Philadelphia.
