Authorities arrested an armed man who stole a sailboat Wednesday night from a pier along the Delaware River, police said.

Members of a boat club flagged down officers in a police boat just before 7:15 p.m. and told them that a man had taken one of their vessels and headed south, investigators said. The theft reportedly occurred at Pier 5, near Penn’s Landing.

The U.S. Coast Guard, which also received an alert about the incident, stopped the boat near the Walt Whitman Bridge and detained the suspect, 31-year-old Roger Pojar, until officers arrived, according to police.

Pojar told the USCG team that he was a federal agent and had a gun, investigators said. The firearm was later determined to have been stolen, authorities allege.

Pojar was charged with illegally possessing a gun, theft and related crimes. His bail was set at 10% of $150,000, according to court documents.
