A 31-year-old man has been arrested in the double stabbing that killed a 6-year-old boy and left a 12-year-old girl in critical condition Sunday in Camden, authorities said.
Osvaldo Rivera, also known as Popeye, was located Sunday afternoon and charged with murder and attempted murder. He is accused of slitting the boy’s throat and stabbing the boy’s sister early Sunday at a home where the children lived on the 900 block of Ware Street.
Two other siblings were found in the home uninjured, authorities said.
Prosecutors did not release a motive in the stabbings, but said Rivera told investigators that he smoked “wet,” a combination of marijuana and PCP before the killings. Authorities found him at an apartment on the 3200 block of River Road hiding between a mattress and a bedroom wall, according to a release from the Camden County Prosecutor’s office.
