A homeless man is in custody after he was charged with raping a 15-year-old girl earlier this month in Center City, police said.

The teenager was sexually assaulted at around 1:15 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, on the 800 block of Chestnut Street, according to authorities.

Derrick Henry, 34, was apprehended Friday morning at Temple University Hospital, where he was being treated for an unrelated matter, investigators said. His arrest came a day after police released surveillance footage in an attempt to identify a suspect in the assault.

Henry was charged with rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful conduct with a minor, aggravated indecent assault without consent, unlawful restraint causing serious bodily injury and related crimes.

Court records indicate Henry was on probation after pleading guilty to aggravated assault and reckless endangerment in April.

His bail was set Saturday at 10% of $1 million, according to court documents.
