Investigators identified a man who was apprehended Friday and charged with murder in connection with the April shooting of a 13-year-old girl in Frankford.
Luis Rodriguez, 25, of Frankford, allegedly killed Alezuana Carter, who was shot in the mouth April 18 inside the first-floor apartment of a property on the 1500 block of Overington Street, police said Monday.
It is unclear what, if any, relationship Rodriguez had with Alezuana or her family.
Court records indicate he was charged with aggravated assault in July 2020, and, a month later, he was implicated in a drug case. In both instances, a judge altered his bail, making it unsecured, which allowed him to be released without paying.
Rodriguez has also been charged with aggravated assault and illegal possession of a firearm relating to the April shooting. He is currently being held without bail at the city’s State Road prison complex.
