A man has been charged with murder after a woman was found decapitated Tuesday afternoon inside a Northeast Philadelphia home.
Officers were called just before 1 p.m. to the 300 block of Magee Avenue in the Lawndale neighborhood for a report of a “person with a weapon,” authorities said.
Inside a house on the block, they found 41-year-old Leila Al Raheel, whose head had been severed, according to police.
A short time later, Ahmad Shareef, 34, was arrested nearby as he attempted to hide from authorities, investigators said. Officers also found a knife.
Both Shareef and Al Raheel lived at the home, and multiple media reports have characterized the killing as an act of domestic violence.
Shareef has been charged with murder, abuse of a corpse and possession of an instrument of crime, according to court documents. He is being held without bail.
