A 66-year-old man has died from his injuries following a fall from a SEPTA platform at the Erie-Torresdale Station on the Market-Frankford Line in North Philadelphia, according to police and a SEPTA spokesperson.
A review of SEPTA’s surveillance video showed the male walking from the platform to the elevated walkway that connects the eastbound and westbound sides of the station, SEPTA officials confirmed. The male then fell from the elevated crossover into the track area below. The male was not struck by a train, and service was suspended following the incident to allow for the emergency response.
A PFD-Medic Unit pronounced the man dead on the scene at 8:59 p.m.
In addition to the Transit Police Department’s investigation, SEPTA’s System Safety Division is conducting a full review of the incident.
Preliminary information indicates this was an accidental fall, and no foul play is suspected, both the police and a SEPTA spokesperson said.
