Man fatally shot in South Philadelphia

A man died Monday morning after being shot several times on a South Philadelphia street, authorities said.

Officers responded just before 11 a.m. to the 2000 block of Mercy Street, where they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to police.

The victim, whose age was not publicly released, was rushed to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and succumbed to his injuries a short time later.

Investigators said a suspect was immediately arrested and a gun was found at the scene. No additional details were provided Monday.
