Authorities said a shooting Wednesday night in Northern Liberties left a 29-year-old man dead.

Bahir Lacy was shot multiple times in the torso at around 6:30 p.m. on the 600 block of Fairmount Avenue, just around the corner from where he lived, according to investigators.

He was rushed to Jefferson University Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries just before 7:15 p.m. No one has been apprehended in connection with the killing.

Through Wednesday, Philadelphia had experienced 426 homicides for the year, up 16% compared to this point in 2020.

Elsewhere, a 33-year-old man was shot five times just after 3 p.m. Thursday outside on the 5400 block of Greenway Avenue in Kingsessing, authorities said. He was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was in stable condition.

The shooting caused brief lockdowns at Comegys Elementary School and Mitchell Elementary School, according to police.

Earlier, at around 11:15 a.m. Thursday, a 21-year-old man was shot twice in the right leg on the 4900 block of B Street in North Philadelphia, investigators said. Officers took him to Temple University Hospital, and he is expected to physically recover.

Medics took a 49-year-old man to the hospital after he was stabbed in the chest at 10:15 a.m. Thursday in the area of the 3700 block of N. Percy Street in Hunting Park, police said.

He is expected to survive. Officers did not recover a weapon at the scene.

On Wednesday, just before 9 p.m., a 52-year-old man was shot in the chin inside a store on the 3000 block of N. 22nd Street in North Philadelphia. Authorities said he was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was in stable condition.

His injuries are not expected to be life-threatening.

About 45 minutes earlier, a 32-year-old man was shot in his right wrist and thigh inside a house on the 700 block of E. Westmoreland Street in Kensington, police said. He was hospitalized and is expected to survive.

Police were also called to Antonia Pantoja Charter School in North Philadelphia at around 6:30 a.m. Thursday when staff arrived and found bullet holes in a cafeteria window.

Investigators also found two bullet fragments and said only one security camera was working on the side where the gunfire apparently originated.
