Man killed in South Philadelphia shooting

A 28-year-old man died Tuesday night after being shot in a robbery outside a strip club in South Philadelphia, police said.

Two men approached the victim and his friend at around 9:30 p.m. as they were preparing to leave Cheerleaders Gentleman’s Club, on Front Street near Oregon Avenue, investigators said.

While inside the friend’s car, the suspects, one of whom was holding a long black firearm, held them up at gunpoint, according to authorities.

During the robbery, the 28-year-old man was shot in the chest, and he was rushed to Jefferson University Hospital, where he died about two hours later.

Police described one of the suspects as a 5-foot 11-inch tall Black man with a dark complexion and thin build who was wearing a mask and all-black clothing at the time of the shooting. No details were released on the other man.

Earlier Tuesday, at around 9 p.m., officers who were called to the 1600 block of Walnut Lane in West Mount Airy found an empty bullet-riddled car and 15 spent shell casings, police said.

Authorities said a 28-year-old man had been taken in a private vehicle to Einstein Medical Center with gunshot wounds to his arms and a graze wound to his head. His injuries are not expected to be life-threatening.

Investigators said the shooters may have been in a white Toyota Camry with tinted windows.

A 17-year-old girl was stabbed in the chest and back just before 11 p.m. Tuesday in Kensington, police said.

Officers picked her up on Silver Street near Front Street and rushed her to Temple University Hospital, where she was later listed in stable condition.

Police have not reported arrests in connection with any of the incidents.
