Man killed in West Philadelphia shooting, others injured in weekend violence

A man was killed and four others were wounded in weekend violence across Philadelphia.

Police found a 41-year-old man who had been shot in the face just after 2:30 a.m. Sunday on the 1000 block of Pallas Street in West Philadelphia. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Several blocks away, a 20-year-old man was shot in the abdomen and right hip at around 3 p.m. Sunday, authorities said. The shooting occurred on the 800 block of Brooklyn Street.

He was rushed to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in critical condition, according to police.

Authorities have not said whether the two shootings could be connected.

In South Philadelphia, police were called to the 1200 block of S. 8th Street at around 6:15 a.m. Sunday, and they found a 27-year-old man with a stab wound to his left forearm.

He was transported to Jefferson University Hospital in stable condition.

On Saturday, at around 4 a.m., a 22-year-old man was shot twice in the face on the 6800 block of Essington Avenue in Southwest Philadelphia, investigators said.

Police said he was later listed in critical condition at Penn Presbyterian.

Someone shot a 36-year-old man in the left leg at around 3:45 a.m. Saturday on the 3000 block of Stokley Street in East Falls, authorities said. His injuries are not expected to be life-threatening.

No arrests were made in the immediate aftermath of any of the incidents, police said.
