Man killed in West Philly; several others injured in shootings

Detectives are investigating after a 39-year-old man was found dead with a gunshot wound to his chest inside an apartment early Monday morning in West Philadelphia.

Officers responded to the building, on the 5200 block of Master Street in the Parkside neighborhood, just before 1 a.m. after someone reported a person with a gun, police said. Medics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Investigators described the suspect as a man who is 5 feet 10 or 5 feet 11 inches tall with a beard.

Later in the morning, at around 7:45 a.m., an argument in Kensington ended with one man shot and another stabbed, according to authorities.

Police said a 22-year-old man stabbed a 30-year-old man in both forearms on the 600 block of E. Indiana Avenue. A gunman, who fled the scene before officers arrived, shot the 22-year-old in the arm, according to investigators.

Both of the injured men were taken to Temple University Hospital, where they were later listed in stable condition. The 22-year-old is expected to face charges, authorities said.

A 40-year-old woman was stabbed in the left arm and leg just after 2 p.m. Monday inside a property on the 5700 block of Chestnut Street in West Philadelphia, police said.

She was transported to Lankenau Medical Center and is expected to survive. No one was apprehended immediately after the stabbing.

On Sunday night, at around 11:45 p.m., a 24-year-old man was shot in the neck outside on the 3800 block of N. Percy Street in Hunting Park, authorities said. He was listed in critical condition at Temple University Hospital.

In Oxford Circle, shots rang out just after 10 p.m. Sunday on the 6000 block of Castor Avenue, and a 28-year-old man was struck in the abdomen, police said.

Medics took him to Einstein Medical Center, and his injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Police reported no arrests in connection with any of the shootings.
