1 dead, 1 injured in West Philadelphia shooting

A shooting left one man dead and another hospitalized Wednesday night in West Philadelphia, police said.

At approximately 6:20 p.m., Philadelphia police responded to a report of a person with a gun in the Mill Creek section of the city, and found two gunshot victims, according to authorities.

A 21-year-old black male suffered multiple gunshot wounds throughout his body. He was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center by police, where he succumbed to his injuries at 6:55 p.m. He was identified as James Odom, according to police.

A 23-year-old black male suffered gunshot wounds to the back and left calf.  Police took him to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he is in stable condition.

The scene was secured. No weapons have been recovered, and no arrests have been made at this time.
