Man killed while walking dogs, second such homicide in a week

A man was shot to death Monday night while walking his dog, the second dog-walking homicide in West Philadelphia within the past week.

The shooting occurred around 7:25 p.m. Monday evening on the 300 block of Horton Street, ABC reported, adding that investigators said the victim was shot once in the head though it is unclear if he was specifically targeted.

“When neighbors saw him lying on the sidewalk, he was still holding the leash in his hands, and the dog was attached,” Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said to ABC.
