Authorities have arrested a suspect in the killing of a 17-year-old boy last week in Southwest Philadelphia.
Raynald Francois, 30, has been charged with murder in connection with the June 8 fatal shooting of Zaafir Jerry on the 2200 block of S. Felton Street, police said Wednesday. He turned himself in at PPD headquarters, according to investigators.
Officers responded to the shooting just after 11:15 a.m. and found Jerry with gunshot wounds to his head, hip and back, police said. He was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he died a short time later.
Detectives found a gun and documented 12 spent shell casings, authorities added. Police believe the killing stemmed from an argument, though no further information was provided.
Francois was incarcerated without bail, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 7. His legal representation could not be identified through court documents Wednesday.
