A 35-year-old man was in critical condition early Sunday after police said he was shot during a fight that erupted outside a bar in Hunting Park.

Investigators said the victim was sitting inside his car and waiting for his brother on the 3700 block of North Park Avenue across from the Eagle Bar.

As the victim’s brother shortly before 2:30 a.m. left the bar and walked toward the car, crossing Erie Avenue, he started arguing with his girlfriend, according to police.

Authorities said a group of unknown men asked the girlfriend if she was all right.

One of the men then allegedly started a fight with the victim’s brother.

Police said the dispute escalated into a melee involving more than ten people, including the victim, who got out of his car to help his brother.

An unknown person then fired two gunshots into the brawling crowd, striking the victim in his forearm and lower back.

The man was rushed to Temple University Hospital, where he was in critical condition Sunday.

No arrests have yet been made.
