A man was shot and killed this evening in the Castor section of Northeast Philadelphia, capping off a violent weekend in which five people were injured – three of them critically – and six people were killed, including a Philadelphia police officer who had just finished his shift,
Police said the victim, 29, was shot once in the chest on the 1300 block of Wells Street around 4:20 p.m. He died on the scene a short time later.
No weapon was recovered and no arrests have yet been made.
The family of Officer Moses Walker Jr., who was shot and killed early Saturday in what investigators believe was a street robbery, will be holding a candlelight vigil at 7 p.m. tonight at Woodstock Street and Cecil B. Moore Avenue, where Walker was discovered.
