A man was stabbed to death outside a South Philadelphia Wawa early Monday, and someone fatally shot a man Sunday evening in the Harrowgate neighborhood.
Emergency personnel responded just before 4 a.m. Monday to the parking lot of a Wawa on the 1600 block of Columbus Boulevard and found a 50-year-old man with a stab wound to his lower abdomen, authorities said.
He was rushed to Jefferson University Hospital, where he died at around 4:45 a.m., according to police.
A 35-year-old man was pronounced dead at around 6:30 p.m. Sunday shortly after being shot once in the chest on the 3600 block of Castor Avenue in Harrowgate, investigators said.
Police reported no arrests in the immediate aftermath of either killing.
Since Jan. 1, 63 people have been killed in Philadelphia, compared to 66 on this date last year, according to police department data. Through Sunday, there had been a total of 234 shooting victims, down nearly 5% from this point in 2021.
Authorities said a 19-year-old man was shot in the abdomen at around 6 a.m. Monday on the 4700 block of D Street in the Feltonville neighborhood. His injuries are not expected to be life-threatening.
Just before 6 a.m. Monday, a 25-year-old man was taken to Temple University Hospital with a wound to his right thigh after being shot in the area of the 4500 block of Castor Avenue in the Northwood section of Northeast Philadelphia.
Detectives were still working Monday morning to identify the exact scene of the shooting. The victim is expected to physically recover.
On Sunday, just before 10:30 p.m., police found a 40-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his back inside a home on the 6400 block of N. 11th Street in East Oak Lane.
The officers took him to Einstein Medical Center, where he was later listed in stable condition.
