The Eagles have a pretty good backup quarterback. He’s a veteran, but isn’t past his prime. He has a lot of experience starting in the NFL and also has post season experience.

So naturally, with Nick Foles the starter for the Eagles in 2014, Mark Sanchez and his impressive play thus far has given rise to questions about his future with the team — or with another one.

“Mark has played well,” Chip Kelly said, “but we haven’t had anybody call and ask us anything, so that’s not something we’re talking about. We’re spending time with things that could happen, should happen, I don’t know. But we’re really happy about him.”

Last season, the Eagles had depth with Michael Vick and Matt Barkley on the roster. With Vick now with the Jets, Barkley is a capable backup, as is G.J. Kinne, who will likely be cut but who has contributed on the practice field.

“I feel very, very confident in our quarterback situation,” Kelly said, “probably better than a lot of teams in this league going into it because I think we have two guys right now that have actually played in games.
