Men arrested for passing off handkerchief-wrapped paper as money

Police arrested two men for multiple thefts in Center City, according to a release sent out today.

The duo allegedly scammed multiple people by telling them a story about being from another country and in need of a hotel or church, then giving them paper cut in the shape of bills wrapped in a handkerchief and walking away with the victims’ money.

The men were arrested Jan. 31 at 2 p.m. Investigators feel that there may be more victims that have yet to come forward.

Anyone who has been victimized is asked to call Central Detectives at 215-686-3093.
