Mermaids will once again call the Adventure Aquarium home this summer

There’s a fan favorite event making a splash this summer at the Camden Adventure Aquarium.

Beginning Thursday, June 1, mermaids will be among the many fixtures swimming around the popular venue amongst its collection of sharks every Thursday to Sunday until June 18.

The underwater experience happens in the Shark Realm of the CAA, and while there, families can check out the mystical divers making their way among sand tigers, nurse sharks and sandbars. Guests can interact and take photos with mermaids in front of a movie-screen-sized window while they’re in the 550,000-gallon exhibit.

This particular Underwater Experience operates on a timed entry, and interested guests can purchase their tickets ahead of time.

The Camden Adventure Aquarium will also showcase mermaids in their own Mermaid Beach Club (which will call the Stingray Beach Club home) where visitors will be able to stop by to see a mermaid wading above the surface amongst cownose and southern stingrays as she sings and blows kisses to visitors, a release states.

Mermaid fans can also join in on a meet and greet at Mermaids’ Manor to meet them up close on their clamshell throne as well. The release also notes that guests can save time and money by pre-purchasing their mermaid photo package ahead of time. The online photo package includes two 6×8 photos for $25.

The Adventure Aquarium is also expanding the mermaid theme past exhibits to include activities and even food and drinks as well.

For those looking to indulge, the space will be offering Mermaid Cotton Candy Dippin’ Dots, a Mermaid Fish Cone (made with purple vanilla soft serve ice cream in a home-made, fish-shaped waffle cone and topped with mermaid sprinkles), a Mermaid Gelati, Mermaid Sundae (made with purple vanilla soft serve ice cream served in a souvenir bowl and topped with graham cracker dust, mermaid sprinkles, and cotton candy Dippin’ Dots) and a Mermaid Candy Stand which will be serving mermaid-themed lollipops, rock candy, cotton candy and lemonade (only available in the Underwater Mermaid Experience.)

Savory options span Fish & Chips, a Po’Boy Sandwich and for parents/adults, there’s the Mermaid Margarita (a mango-strawberry margarita garnished with candy pieces and a sugared rim). This particular item is available at Flying Fish Beer Garden.

Crafts-wise, kids can make their own DIY mermaid necklace with their choice of charm and a scoop of beads, or, tackle a color your own eco-friendly pirate hat.

Tickets for Mermaids are available for purchase now online at AdventureAquarium.com. And as a release states guests looking to enjoy Mermaids and more should consider becoming a member for unlimited, year-round access to Adventure Aquarium’s 15,000 incredible aquatic animals located at 1 Riverside Drive in Camden, New Jersey.
