Metro Philadelphia, Schneps Media win Keystone Media Awards

Metro Philadelphia, owned by Schneps Media, earned six Keystone Press Awards, presented by the Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association.

The Keystone Media Awards honor excellence in news media, by recognizing journalism that provides relevance, integrity, and initiative throughout the state of Pennsylvania.

Entertainment Editor Molly Given earned First Place (Personality Profile) for her feature on Harley’s Food Art, spotlighting an artist who uses kitchen ingredients to create masterpieces. Given was also awarded for her work on the Lifestyle/Entertainment Beat (Honorable Mention) for her coverage of ‘The Holdovers’, ‘Blue Eye Samurai,’ ‘Running Wild’ and more.

Reporter Jack Tomczuk was honored for Enterprise Reporting (Honorable Mention) for Metro’s Mayor’s Race Spotlight Series, in which he provided readers with an in-depth look at the candidates of Philadelphia’s Democratic primary election for mayor. Tomczuk spotlighted every candidate in the primary, their stances on citywide issues, plans for the future and what they have accomplished in the past.

Freelance reporter Jason Peters earned a Keystone Award for Investigative Reporting (Honorable Mention) for his article, How gun violence affects the mental health of Philadelphia children, investigating the influence of Philadelphia’s gun epidemic on local children.

The 2024 Keystone Media Awards will be presented during an awards luncheon on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2024, at the Sheraton Harrisburg Hershey Hotel.
