There are plenty of reasons to celebrate at MilkBoy this May

A lot is happening the first week of May for the local bar, restaurant and music brand, MilkBoy. Both landmark locations of the name (South Street and 11th Street) will be launching different specials for a few upcoming holidays in the next week, and locals are invited out to indulge in more ways than one.

First, South Street is celebrating the return of their neighbor, Jim’s Steaks, who will be reopening after a fire halted their operations on Wednesday, May 1. Celebratory libations will be served—like the Jim’s Wit’ ($9),  a combo of a Miller Lite Tall Boy with a shot of Jim Beam Black Bourbon, and the tropical Jim and Juice ($10), featuring Jim Beam Peach Bourbon Whiskey, pineapple juice, and orange juice—plus, patrons presenting a Jim’s Steaks receipt can enjoy a $4 side of fries.

Then, this Saturday, May 4, MilkBoy will also be serving up some fare for the South Street Block Festival from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., hosted on the 400 block.

Both locations will celebrate Cinco de Mayo.MILKBOY

As a release notes, this charitable event will include a dunk tank with proceeds benefiting the nonprofit animal shelter, Philly PAWS, along with a live DJ, corn hole, and outdoor games. Philadelphians can also find Founder’s Mortal Bloom Hazy IPA and Founder’s All Day Grapefruit on draft, along with three specialty crafted cocktails available at MilkBoy including the Mocha Madness (Roaster’s Daughter’s Espresso Martini and Jacquins Crème de Cacao) Brewtini (made with vodka, Kahlua, and Bean2Bean espresso), and Sojo (comprised of Jim Beam Peach, lemon, and Twisted Tea.)

Next up for Cinco de Mayo, MilkBoy Philly at 11th and Chestnut will host the Cinco Express Barcrawl chock full of $5 margaritas, $4 Tecates, and $5 chips and guac from noon to 8 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. South Street will have the same specials, but only on Sunday, May 5.

Philadelphians can also indulge in a recently lost beloved Phillies tradition with the brand’s Dollar Dog Night promotion, with $1 hot dogs on May 7, June 3, July 9, Aug. 13, and Sept. 9. $6 New Belgium Fat Tire drafts will also be available during all home games throughout the 2024 season.

And lastly, but certainly not least, according to a release, in honor of National Nurses Week (Monday, May 6 through Friday, May 10), the brand’s venue on Chestnut Street will be hosting a special morning happy hour on Monday, May 6 and Friday, May 10 from 7 to 9 a.m. for neighboring Jefferson Hospital and surrounding area nurses and employees. The event will  feature $2 off draft beer, wine, and well mixed drinks, in addition to a featured cocktail dubbed The Nightshifter comprised of rum, curacao, cranberry juice, and soda, priced at $10 all week long.
