A West Philly teenager reported missing in November was found dead Fridaypolice said.
A vigil is planned in honor of Xavier Stern, 15, atMonarch Football Field, 6501 Callowhill St., for Sunday night at 7p.m., the Inquirer reported. Stern played football at that field with the Overbrook Monarchs.
A police report states that officers received a report of a body in a vehicleon the 2400 block of N. Park Avenue, near Broad and York streets,on Friday evening by reports of a body in a vehicle, a 1998 Lincoln Town Car.
The victim was found seated in the back passenger seat with a single gunshot wound to the head. Medics reported him dead at 7:31 p.m., police said.
“There was no ballistic evidence or weapons recovered at the scene. However, the vehicle will be processed for possible evidence,” police said.
According to the Inquirer,he was on probation and had an ankle monitoring bracelet at the time of his death.
He was reportedly last seen athis family’s Upper Darby home on Nov. 22. They reported him missing on Thursday, Dec. 10, just a day before he was found dead.
“Xavier was well loved and was coming into his own as a bright, humble young man and outstanding athlete who loved his family,” a Gofundme page for Stern’s family states. “We are going to grieve for our precious family member long into the future.”
