Ahead of their upcoming North American tour, Philly-based indie rock quartet Mo Lowda & the Humble released double A-side singles ‘7.31’ and ‘Sara’s Got Big Plans’ on Tuesday, March 11.
Known for their magnetic sound, which features dynamic and captivating guitar riffs paired with reposeful melodies, the group embraces change for the sake of growth and peacefully parts ways with a former flame in these latest tracks.
“‘7.31’ is a subtle nudge to remember to celebrate the small wins and come to terms with the fleeting nature of life,” Jordan Caiola (lead vocals, guitar, bass) explained. “Folks are often terrified of change — myself included sometimes — yet it is an absolute of the human experience. Things shift and change and I think that’s necessary for any sort of growth or progress, whether it be on a personal level or society as a whole. ‘7.31’ says don’t be afraid.”

Regarding ‘Sara’s Got Big Plans,’ Caiola added, “With no real “chorus” and multiple overdubbed unison gang vocals on every line (a page out of Royel Otis’ book), the production is meant to draw you in for a tale of well wishes to an old flame known for her beauty and her brains, but often misunderstood as she traverses adult life.”
Both tracks join the also recently released ‘Canary,’ which features a “carefree yet grounded energy” with “surf-pop-inspired riffs.”
“[Canary] focuses on the struggle of allowing oneself to fully open up, let it naturally unfold & trust the trajectory–something the narrator has previously (unsuccessfully) grappled with,” Jeff Lucci (bass, guitar, keyboard, vocals) explained. “I used a baritone to play fingerstyle parts that cover the low end pretty nicely, and the bridge has a kind of electronic feel by using some guitar pedal trickery.”
The release precedes the quartet’s highly anticipated fifth studio album, titled ‘Tailing The Ghost.’ Written and recorded fully on the road, the band enjoyed breathtaking views from Joshua Tree to Lake Travis, Texas, and more while drawing inspiration for their new project. The group said they worked through the arrangements in real time between home-cooked meals, poker games, and movie viewings.
