Montgomery County Community College is on lockdown as police search for two armed suspects wanted for robbing a nearby tavern early Monday morning.

The suspects robbed Whitpain Tavern in Blue Bell about 2 a.m. before ditching their getaway car, a stolen red Ford Mustang, on the college’s campus, 6ABC Action News reports.

Police used a spike strip to try to stop the suspects, but the driver swerved and drove through a fence on the MCCC campus.

College officials have delayed the school’s opening Monday by two hours to 10 a.m. That delayed opening could be extended depending on the outcome of the suspect search.

Police tell Action News the men fled the bar with a safe, the contents of which are unknown.
