A new online Immigrant Resource Center has been launched by Montgomery County, designed to provide local residents with various resources, including civil rights procedures, legal representation, small business opportunities, and related support.

Established to support the local immigrant community, the Immigrant Resource Center functions as a central hub for programs and services offered by the county, as well as by local nonprofits and community organizations. Officials say the center’s mission is to expand access to vital information for all Montgomery County residents, with materials available in Spanish and other languages to ensure broader accessibility.

The hub’s resources aim to aid residents in various ways, from helping them better understand their rights to navigating citizenship and naturalization processes and accessing legal representation. The Immigrant Resource Center, through the Montgomery County Commerce Department and local chambers of commerce, also provides a network of support for small business owners and entrepreneurs.

Montgomery residents can also use this resource to collaborate with the County and contribute to its work through volunteer opportunities on County Boards and Commissions and employment opportunities.

“The Immigrant Resource Center was created to ensure that all of our residents, including the 100,000 that are foreign-born, have equal access to their local representatives—no matter how long they’ve been here,” said Neil K. Makhija, Chair of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners. “There are many ways to make our community inclusive, and one of the most crucial is ensuring civic life and community support are accessible equitably to everyone. Our Office of Immigrant Affairs has been established to do just that.”

Montgomery County residents, both new and long-time, can find more information and access the Immigrant Resource Center at montgomerycountypa.gov/immigrants.
