Philadelphia police announced this morning that a 24-year-old woman has been charged with killing her 4-year-old daughter earlier this week.

Police on Thursday charged Josephita Brown, of the 5600 block of S. 56th Street, with murder and endangering the welfare of a child. Brown was arrested at police headquarters.

Brown brought her daughter, identified by police as Seanita Brown, to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia about 2 a.m. Tuesday when the girl became unresponsive.

Seanita Brown died at 2:45 a.m. She sustained a lacerated liver by abdominal blunt force trauma, police said.

The Southwest Philadelphia girl arrived at the hospital with old and new bruising and was bleeding from multiple places, including both ears, according to reports.
