Murder charge in shooting death of Kensington woman

Police have charged a man with murder in a Kensington shooting that was initially reported to be accidental.

Robert Jones, 36, allegedly shot Sandrea Smith, 35, once in the head inside his second-floor apartment on the 2100 block of East Somerset Street shortly before 3 p.m. Saturday. She died on the scene.

Some outlets reported early on that Jones accidentally discharged his gun while cleaning it, but police said today that he was taken into custody for homicide.
