Murder suspect caught following police pursuit in Jenkintown

Authorities in Jenkintown have apprehended a murder fugitive after he allegedly led police on a chase this morning.

The incident began when police spotted the suspect in a pickup truck near Florence and Greenwood avenues in Jenkintown, according to reports. The suspect then fled on foot and was later spotted around Jenkintown Middle and High Schools, causing those schools to be locked down.

The pursuit finally ended when the suspect jumped in front of a SEPTA Regional Rail train at the Jenkintown Train station. Authorities said the suspect survived and has been taken to the hospital.

The man, whose name has not been released, is wanted in connection to a murder in New York, reports said. More information is expected to be released this afternoon.

The schools lockdown has been lifted and SEPTA service on the West Trenton line has resumed, although delays are expected.
