The NBA Finals are finally upon us. Game 1 takes place on Thursday night as the Boston Celtics look to finally climb back to Championship ways after years of falling at the final hurdle. Can the Mavericks stunt their plans in Game 1?

The Boston Celtics come into this game with homefield advantage which is huge. The team went 37-4 at home during the regular season whereas the Mavericks were 25-16 on the road. TD Garden became somewhat of a fortress this year, and it will be down to the Mavs’ dynamic backcourt duo to try and break it down.
Doncic and Irving are playing some simply remarkable basketball right now. The two combined for 72 points in their series-winning game over the Timberwolves last time out, proving to be lethal from just about everywhere on the court.
As good as these two have been, the Mavericks will need more than a generational backcourt to overcome the cohesiveness the Celtics have displayed this postseason.
Derrick Jones Jr. could be the player to keep an eye on. He excelled offensively on the road to the NBA Finals, but it’s his defense that will be key in this series, with Jones likely being tasked with slowing down the likes of a surging Jayson Tatum.
Speaking of Tatum, he’s put up 25+ points in 7 of his last 8 games. His prop for game 1 is 26.5, so flirting with the over here is certainly logical given his postseason dominance.
The opening game is bound to be a thrilling affair. The Celtics are certainly the more cohesive offensive group and if they can find a way to slow down one of the two superstars Dallas is fielding, just to tame their scoring, then this is a very winnable game for a Boston side that has had all the answers during the playoffs up to this point.
