Just when it looked like there were no suitors interested in Sixers’ center Jahlil Okafor ( the Celtics reportedly have gone quiet of late) a new team emerges.
According to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, Indiana is kicking the tires on Okafor a couple days before the trade deadline.
“Indiana seems to be one of the more active teams right now as they try to get Paul George some help,” she said. “One name Jeff Goodman, Chris Haynes and I have all heard they’re pursuing: Jahlil Okafor.”
The Pacers have indicated they would part ways with their first round draft pick to give George a new offensive-minded teammate, but of course the draft pick would be in the latter half of the first round, which isn’t the most appealing asset.
However Philly does seem pretty desperate, and a draft pick is a draft pick.
Okafor had been rumored to be heading to Sacramento, New Orleans, Chicago and Phoenix, among others. He was kept away from the team during a road trip to Miami and Charlotte earlier in February but rejoined the team in Boston for its final game before the All-Star break.
