Net gains? Leighton on re-entry waivers

Are the Flyers trying to recapture some of last season’s magic?

As the alternating goaltender tandem of Sergei Bobrovsky and Brian Boucher continues to struggle down the stretch, the team could be turning to Michael Leighton again.

The hero of last year’s unlikely Stanley Cup run was placed on re-entry waivers yesterday and could re-join the Flyers — if no one else claims him. If more than one team makes a claim on Leighton, then the goalie would go to the club with the lowest percentage of possible points.

Leighton, who pitched back-to-back shutouts last week for the Adirondack Phantoms, was originally placed on waivers Jan. 3.
