New Philadelphia sex club draws community protests

A swingers club planning to open its second Philadelphia location in Holmesburg has drawn resistance from community leaders.

Saints and Sinners, which bills itself online as an “adult playground,” planned to open its doors on April 16 at 8832 Frankford Ave. in the former Rosewood Inn Caterers facility, butCity Councilman Bobby Henon has saidthat the grand opening has been canceled, according to PhillyVoice.

“I am angry that the community wasn’t notified or included,” Henon wrote online, according to PhillyVoice. “An adult venue like this can negatively impact the quality of life in this community and it especially affects the neighboring residences and businesses.”

Renovations at the site have been ceased by the Department of Licenses and Inspections, which claimed that the owners do not currently have the proper permits, according to 6ABC.

Saints and Sinners had planned to be a private admission club, open only a few times during the week, similar to the owners’ current facility in Port Richmond, 6ABC added.

Saints and Sinners’ owner has promised to attend a newly scheduled community meeting on April 21, arranged so area residents could give their input on the matter, PhillyVoice reported.

“The members of this community have to come out and make their voices heard on this issue,” Henon was quoted by PhillyVoice. “We need business owners, community group members and neighbors to ask questions and share their concerns about this kind of private adult club setting up shop in our neighborhood.”
