Night Market in Roxborough is more than browsing food trucks and getting your grub on—though there’s plenty of that courtesy of area eateries like Bombay Local Pizza,
My Four Suns Korean Fusion and Viva Empanada. The after-work soiree also includes three areas of live music, including a DJ party in a pop-up park, an art market and space for families to gather for family activities. Show up early to take part in a yoga class courtesy of On the Goga.

Art in the Open

This weekend the Schuylkill River Trail will transform into an outdoor museum gallery for the fifth annual Art in the Open. More than two dozen artists will hit the green to make and display their creations for anyone to see, and field questions about their creative process. Have the family in tow? Bring them Saturday for the kid-friendly “Family Day,” where they can take part in games and arts and crafts activities between 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Dad Vail Regatta

The Dad Vail Regatta, the largest collegiate regatta in the States, returns to the Schuylkill River for two days this weekend. Locals will flock to the river banks to cheer on rowing teams from over 100 colleges and universities in the U.S. and Canada. Bring a picnic and bottle of wine and make a day of it.

The beer list at Hawthorne’s 7th annual IPA Block Party is gigantic, comprising classic and brand new brews from folks like Russian River Company, Half Acre and more. Walk Against Hate

Hundreds of Philadelphians will head to the Navy Yard Sunday to play their part in the 2016 Walk Against Hate. The walk raises funds for the Anti Defamation League’s mission to stomp out the injustices of prejudice in everyday life. After the walk, stick around for the festivities, including a Diversity Expo, Kids’ Zone and live entertainment from the likes of Philly Drag Mafia and locally raised “Empire” star and hip-hop artist Yazz the Greatest.

It’s been nearly three weeks since Prince’s passing, but the tributes are still rolling on. This is one not to be missed: Philly drag queen and cabaret diva Martha Graham Cracker performs some of the purple one’s hits and rare gems. She will be joined throughout the night by a host of special guests, like The Hooters’ Eric Bazilian, Johnny Showcase and rock group Northern Arms.

Local yogis looking to switch up their usual routine should head to South Philly for this two-hour flow to the sounds of Heavy D, Grandmaster Flash and more hip-hop pioneers from the ’80s and ’90s. Instructor Chelsea Gilday has a background in Pilates, so expect an intense, core-strengthening practice. At the end, cool off to some ’90s R&B slow jams by the likes of TLC and En Vogue.

All the winners from First Person Arts’ 16th annual story slam contests, which have been taking place throughout the year, come together for a grand championship. Raconteurs will have a chance to woo local judges with a story on the theme “Where I Come From.” The winner will score $250. Philly comedian Chip Chantry hosts.

“The Really Awesome Art Show” Opening Reception

More than 275 youth in the region are readying for the grand opening of “The Really Awesome Art Show,” an exhibition that comprises works of all varieties that they crafted themselves. The show, done in cooperation with the Mural Arts Program, comprises works done by students in charter and public schools, and even community and juvenile justice centers across Philadelphia. All proceeds from works sold go directly back to the students.

Theatre Exile closes its 19th season with a nail-biting political thriller by Pulitzer-winning playwright Ayad Akhtar. Taking hints from a classic Hollywood heist caper, “Invisible Hand” concerns investment banker Nick Bright, who is kidnapped and held for ransom by an Islamic militant group. When no one seems to be coming to his rescue, he has to take it upon himself to bargain for release.
