Trenton Councilwoman Kathy McBride thinks blue waffle disease needs the city’s attention.
According to NJ.com, McBride during council comments told her colleagues and the public that she received a call from a man who asked her what Trenton was doing about “blue waffle disease.”
Blue waffle disease is an Internet urban legend frequently shared online to fool unsuspecting prey. It seems as though McBride is the unfortunate prey in this case. A search of the phrase will turn up Photoshopped pictures of women’s genitalia with severe infections.
It seems as though McBride didn’t do any Internet research herself or else she would have found blue waffle disease—which is most likely an April Fools’ joke—is fake.
The Trentonian reports McBride pulled up some pictures during the meeting on her iPad, and even after someone informed her it was a joke, she wanted the health department to get back to her.
“I still have to go talk to the health department to get an official answer,” McBride said.
