When Tampa Bay and Indianapolis square off in a few moments, they Monday Night Football telecast will not begin with Hank Williams, Jr.’s iconic “All My Rowdy Friends” theme song.
The track, which has opened the show for 20 years, has been pulled due to controversial comments Williams, Jr. made about President Barack Obama. The singer compared Obama to Adolf Hitler on Fox News Channel’s “Fox and Friends” show Monday morning.
“We are extremely disappointed with his comments, and as a result we have decided to pull the open from tonight’s telecast,” ESPN said in a statement.
It wasn’t clear how ESPN planned to open Monday night’s game.
